Teotihuacan Hot Air Balloon from Mexico City
A hot air balloon flight over the Teotihuacan valley with round-trip transport from Mexico City costs $3,100 MXN per person and includes the buffet breakfast; if you drive to Teotihuacán yourself, that same flight with breakfast is $2,450 per person and the base shared flight is $2,300.
What it costs from Mexico City, with and without transport
There are two ways to do this from Mexico City. Either the transport comes with the flight, or you drive to Teotihuacán yourself and pay only for the balloon. The difference is $650 MXN per person: $3,100 for the Complete Shared Flight, with round-trip transport from Mexico City, $2,450 for the same flight and the same breakfast when you arrive on your own.
Every price on this page is per person, in Mexican pesos, and includes the flight itself. The single exception is the private flight, which is advertised per couple — $8,500 for the two of you — and works out at $4,250 per passenger, from 2 to 8.
Transport can also be attached to a package that does not carry it, at $650 MXN per person, round trip. Ask before you pay the deposit, not the night before.
All the shared flights share the basket. If you want it to yourselves, the private flight is $8,500 per couple, $4,250 per additional passenger up to 8, and it adds the entrance to the Teotihuacán archaeological zone and a banner with the message you choose.

Why the flight is at sunrise, and what that means for your day
Balloons take off at dawn because that is when the air is calmest. It is not tradition, it is the weather: we do not launch with sustained wind above 20 km/h, and we do not launch in rain.
That single rule sets the whole schedule. Everything upstream — the drive from Mexico City, the arrival at the field, laying out and inflating the balloon, the safety briefing — has to be finished before the sun is up, so the day starts while it is still dark.
Time in the air is 45 to 60 minutes. Everything around it — the transfer, the preparation, the briefing, the landing wherever the wind puts the basket down, packing the balloon and the drive back — takes the rest of the morning. Treat flight day as a morning, not as a two-hour slot.
On the package with transport, pickup starts at 4:00 AM at a point we agree with you inside a 4 km radius of the Ángel de la Independencia — your hotel or your Airbnb. Your exact time is confirmed when you book; confirm it with us on WhatsApp rather than assuming it from another operator's page.
Where your morning starts: picked up in Mexico City, or driving yourself
With the Complete Shared Flight your day starts in the city, in the dark: pickup from 4:00 AM at the agreed point within 4 km of the Ángel de la Independencia. The return is exclusively to the Ángel — we do not drop off at hotels — and if the Ángel is closed by a march or by traffic, the alternate drop-off point is the Monumento a la Revolución.
If you drive yourself, your day starts when you pull into the balloon port, and the exact meeting time is confirmed when we take your booking, because sunrise moves through the year: it is not the same hour in December as in June. Allow for the drive out of the city before dawn.
Either way, do not book anything in the city for the first half of flight day. Weather can push the launch, and a delayed take-off moves the whole chain, not just the flight.
Breakfast, birthday banner and the archaeological zone: what is actually included
The buffet breakfast is served after you land, and it is included from the $2,450 package upwards: in the birthday flight, in the Complete Shared Flight with transport, and in the private flight. On the $2,300 base flight it is not included, and it can be added for $150 MXN per person.
The birthday banner, with «Las Mañanitas» sung in the balloon at sunrise, is the whole distance between the $2,450 package and the $2,500 one. Fifty pesos per person, and it costs the same whether you buy the fixed package or add it to a package you build yourself.
Entrance to the Teotihuacán archaeological zone is included in one package only: the private flight. It is the entrance ticket, not a guided tour — you walk the site at your own pace after the flight. No shared package includes it, and no package on this page includes a guide.
That is the whole list. Flight, coffee break and landing toast in all six packages; buffet breakfast, birthday banner, round-trip transport from Mexico City and archaeological zone entrance depending on which one you choose. Nothing else is sold at the field.
Where you take off: our own balloon port, 2 km from the Archaeological Zone
Volando en Globo launches from its own balloon port, 2 km from the Teotihuacán Archaeological Zone, with its own parking, a waiting area, and an AFAC ground crew. If you drive from Mexico City, you park at the field itself.
This matters for anyone comparing operators: the main balloon port in the area is shared by several companies. Several balloons rising in the same photo does not mean they all belong to the same operator. Ask which field your flight actually launches from before you pay.
Pilots hold a current AFAC commercial licence and the envelopes are Pasha and Kubíček. More than six years of operation, 5.0 stars across 407 Google reviews.
No balloon flies over the pyramids — ours included
The airspace directly above the Teotihuacán Archaeological Zone is restricted. No operator overflies the Pyramid of the Sun or the Pyramid of the Moon. Anyone selling you a flight «over the pyramids» is selling you something the regulator does not permit.
What actually happens: you fly over the valley at first light and you see the site from the air — the pyramids seen from above the valley, not flown over.
Wind direction decides the track each morning, which is why nobody can promise you a specific view, and why we do not. Read how the flight operation is actually run before you book.
Wind, rain and what happens if the flight is called off
We do not take off with sustained wind above 20 km/h, and we do not take off in rain.
If we cancel for weather, you reschedule at no cost and you have 3 months to use the flight. That is the cancellation policy in full.
If you cancel with 48 hours or more of notice, you reschedule without penalty.
This is the part travellers from abroad get wrong: do not schedule your Teotihuacán balloon for the morning of your flight home. Leave one spare morning in the trip, because the reschedule is only useful if you are still in the country.
Tickets, deposit and who is allowed to fly
You hold a seat with $500 MXN per person. The balance is paid on flight day, in cash, or by card with a 3% processing fee. The deposit goes through MercadoPago or SPEI bank transfer.
All six packages, with current prices, are on the booking hub — from the $2,300 shared flight to the private flight at $8,500 per couple. WhatsApp +52 771 216 9816; phones 775 771 3010 and 771 720 6068. The Google listing shows 24-hour attention hours.
Hard limits, no exceptions: minimum age 4 years or 1.10 m, always with an adult, and the child must be able to stand on their own — nobody may be carried in the basket. Maximum weight per passenger is 99 kilos.
Pregnant passengers do not fly. Neither does anyone who has drunk alcohol in the previous 12 hours, or anyone with blood pressure, cardiac, respiratory, spinal or knee conditions, or recent surgery. The complete list is in the flight policies and restrictions.
| Add-on | Price (MXN) |
|---|---|
| Buffet breakfast, per person | $150 |
| Birthday banner and «Las Mañanitas» in the balloon, per person | $50 |
